Raised in Rome by his father, an architect
who worked for the Vatican, Simbari was influenced at a young age
by such art treasures as the Sistine Chapel. After studying architecture
at the Academia delle Belli Arte, geometric shapes became one of
the foremost aspects of his pieces. Using bright colors and the paintbrush
as his guide, Simbari makes the canvas seem alive. Exhibited in the
key cities (such as London, Paris, and New York), Simbari’s
art is well recognized all over the globe. With his two major solo
shows Crazy Horse Saloon and Le Cirque, Simbari portrayed showgirls
at a Paris nightclub (in Crazy Horse Saloon) and gave his interpretation
of the circus (Le Cirque). One critic for Le Monde said “The
originality of this painting gorged with light and color expressed
with a powerful and energetic styles resides principally in the strict
associations of the figurative and the abstract.” |
